To say that Renata Black keeps busy is an understatement. Fresh off her smashingly successful Lingerie Miami event, Black is currently preparing to take the event to New York in 2010. Lingerie New York will take place in March 2010 at Cipriani Wall Street in the Financial District of New York.
Like its predecessor, Lingerie Miami, the New York event will again combine the world of high fashion with a powerful cause of helping underprivileged women in the United States. All proceeds raised at the New York event will go directly to microfinance institutions that give out small loans to help women pull themselves out of poverty by starting their own businesses.
Renata Black’s inspiration is “the women in the world who live on under a dollar a day, break their backs to make it and still smile back at life.” For the past 5 years of her life, Black has been studying the world of microfinance, learning how to use it to not just give underprivileged women money, but to show them how to make it as well. It’s this unique philanthropic approach that creates a sustained positive impact that lasts far longer than a typical donation.
So, what can you expect at Lingerie New York? The event celebrates women with an eye-catching catwalk show produced by Lynne O’Neil, fashion show producer of the hit HBO series Sex & the City. The event will also host the debut of Agent Provocateur’s first ever couture line. Furthermore, there will be a “Salute to Couture,” a celebration of the rich history of couture corsetry.
As grand as the Lingerie New York 2010 event is sure to be, don’t expect Renata Black to stop there. With plans to take the event to other major cities as well as her ongoing work with the 7 Bar Foundation, you can be sure that Black will be creating more sensational events to raise money for this worthwhile cause.
